The Story

Cinque Island is actually two islands connected by a narrow sandbar, and one of the richest reef sites in South Andaman — which is exactly why access is tightly controlled.

Because it sits inside a protected marine park, visitor numbers are limited and trips need advance permission, keeping the reef in noticeably better shape than more heavily trafficked sites.

Location

South Andaman, within a marine national park

How to Get There

Day excursions run by boat from Wandoor, near Port Blair, and require a forest department permit arranged in advance.

Travel Tips

  • Book through an operator who can handle the permit process — it can't be arranged on the spot
  • Trips are seasonal and depend on marine park access rules, so confirm availability before finalizing plans
