Barren Island
India's only active volcano, seen from the water

Overview
Barren Island is an uninhabited volcanic island roughly 140 km northeast of Port Blair, home to the only confirmed active volcano in South Asia. There is no jetty, settlement, or accommodation on the island.
Landing is not permitted — the island is visited on a day cruise that circles offshore for views of the volcanic cone and surrounding water, subject to Forest Department clearance and sea conditions on the day.
